Something incredible and innatural was happening and there was nothing to do: as soon as the big central arch was build, the bridge began to fall down.
It is said that the Devil in person built the bridge in only one night, but under the condition that he would have taken with him the firs sould that crossed the bridge.
Fear and sadness of the people, the Devil was up there waiting !!
A little dog, unaware of what was going on, started to cross the bridge, and once he reached the big arch, was cought by the angry and betrayed Devil, and togheter disappeared in the river.
Even nowdays, during full moon nights, there are people who hear the screams of the damned souls, forced by the diabolic revenge, to cross the bridge befor entering hell.
